Why We Reject 'Mr. It-Will-Be-Fine' Fence Construction

Across Colorado Springs, we regularly repair or replace fences that collapsed after just three or four years because an uncommitted crew took shortcuts.

When a fence contractor tells you “18 inches deep is good enough” or uses a pneumatic nail gun to slam through cedar pickets in an afternoon, they are banking on the fact that you won't notice until the first bomb cyclone or major December windstorm rips panels clean off the rails.

Front Range weather is unforgiving. Chinook winds dropping off Pikes Peak create dynamic lateral loads of thousands of pounds against 6-foot privacy fences. When the ground freezes down to 20 inches in January and heaves in the March mud season, smooth nail shanks back out of soft wood. That is why our crew adheres to three foundational rules on every single job:

01

Deep Concrete Anchors

We auger post holes minimum 24 inches deep—below the frost line—and use approximately 100 pounds of concrete per post so the base cannot heave or lean.

02

Lifetime Screws Only

We fasten pickets and horizontal rails using ceramic-coated exterior screws guaranteed against rust and backing out. Zero nail guns on our fence lines.

03

Board-by-Board Selection

Every cedar and fir board is hand-inspected for grain straightness, knots, and cupping. Defective timber is rejected at the lumber yard, not put on your fence.

Whether we are building 300 feet of post-and-dowel fencing on a Black Forest 2.8-acre parcel or rebuilding a single wind-torn gate for a military family in Fountain, we bring the same meticulous standard of craftsmanship to your home.
